HB 1222 - This act provides that a coroner or medical examiner may appoint a special deputy coroner or medical examiner in the event of a natural disaster, mass casualty, or other emergency situation. Such special deputy coroners and medical examiners shall be the coroner or medical examiner of any other county in the state who is willing to serve under this act. All appointees shall be directly supervised by the coroner or medical examiner making the appointment and such appointment shall not exceed thirty days. In addition, the appointees shall not receive any compensation for services rendered, but shall be reimbursed for all actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of official duties under this act.
In addition, the coroner or medical examiner making the appointment shall file a record of the appointee's full name, address, date of birth, date of appointment, and date of termination with his or her county clerk.
