HB 1885 – The act repeals provisions relating to the Real Estate Appraiser's Commission. Currently, members of the commission must be in good standing of nationally recognized real estate appraisers organization and the membership is staggered. A requirement that meetings be decided by vote and notice given is also repealed. The per diem allowance for members is increased from 50 to 70 dollars. Under the act, the Real Estate Appraisers Commission may administer oaths, issue and enforce subpoenas and demand the production of certain evidence in relation to a proceeding regarding real estate appraisers. The commission may require licensees to pay the costs of proceedings if the commission prevails. Applicants for licensure must be residents of the state to apply for certification or licensure but those certified or licensed in other states may be awarded a certificate or license upon approval by the board.
The commission may also issue inactive certificates and licenses. In order to renew a license the applicant must present evidence amenable to the commission, of having completed adequate continuing education requirements.
This act is similar to HB 1884 (2006).
