SB 359 - Currently, a local government may withdraw from a regional planning commission at the end of any fiscal year by a two-thirds vote of the local government's governing body. Under this act, the governing body shall also withdraw upon voter approval. If the governing body receives a petition, signed by 15% of the registered voters in the last gubernatorial election, calling for withdrawal, the governing body shall submit the proposal to the voters. If a majority of the votes are in favor of withdrawal, the governing body shall withdraw the local government from the regional planning commission at the end of the fiscal year.
