SB 544 - Currently, a municipality or county has discretion to allow organizations to solicit charitable contributions in its roads. Under this act, a municipality or county is required to authorize organizations to make such solicitations if public safety officers will be making the solicitations. The organization must file a written application providing certain information, including proof of a valid liability insurance policy in an amount of at least one million dollars, in order to receive authorization. This act is similar to HB 884 (2009).
