Missouri State Senate
Finding Voting Records
As a bill travels through the legislative process, it is voted on many times. Votes are taken relating to amendments, procedural motions and the general advancement of the bill from one stage to the next. Every vote taken in both chambers is recorded and listed in the Senate and House Journals which are available online in PDF format.
To find the page that records a particular vote for the current session:
- Enter the bill number in which you are interested on the Bill Search page.
- When the search results are listed, click on the bill number.
- The "Main" bill page should appear, click on "All Actions" to view the actions taken on the bill.
- The numbers shown on the far right of the action line indicate the journal page on which the vote is recorded. The date column on the left-hand side indicates the date on which the vote took place. Make note of these two items. An "S" in front of the page number indicates it is located in a Senate Journal, the "H" represents a House Journal page.
- Click on the page number to open the journal containing that page. The journal will open to the correct page.
