HB 341 - This act modifies who the appropriate officers for the filing of certain statements and reports under current campaign finance laws for certain elective offices are. Under current law, for candidates for the offices of state senator, state representative, county clerk, and associate circuit court judges and circuit court judges, the appropriate officers are the Missouri Ethics Commission and the election authority for the place of residence of the candidate. This act changes the appropriate officer to include just the Missouri Ethics Commission.
Under current law, for candidates for elective municipal offices in municipalities of more than 100,000 inhabitants, the appropriate officers are the Missouri Ethics Commission and the election authority for the place of residence of the candidate. This act changes the appropriate officer to include just the Missouri Ethics Commission.
Current law states that in the case of all offices not explicitly contemplated in statute, the appropriate officer shall be the election authority of the district or political subdivision for which the candidate seeks office. This act changes the appropriate officer to the Missouri Ethics Commission.
The act requires certain candidates for elected office to file any required disclosure report in an electronic format as prescribed by the Missouri Ethics Commission.
