SB 236 - This act changes the procedure for appointing sports complex authority commissioners.
The Jackson County governing body will submit a panel of nine names to the Governor who shall pick four commissioners, no more than two of whom shall be from the same political party. The Kansas City mayor will submit a panel of three names, with the Governor picking one commissioner from the mayor's list. Altogether a maximum of three commissioners can be from the same political party.
In order to keep the staggered terms for commissioners, the
two year term was deleted, and the commissioner appointed by the
mayor shall serve a term of five years.
