JEFFERSON CITY— The Missouri Senate passed a measure today by a vote of 32-2 that would modify the state’s Second Injury Fund and Workers’ Compensation system. Senate Bill 1, sponsored by Sen. Scott T. Rupp, R-Wentzville, is one of the Senate’s biggest priorities for this legislative session. It now moves to the House for consideration.
Since 2008, funding for the Second Injury Fund has declined dramatically and can no longer meet its obligation to Missourians. Senate Bill 1 seeks to resolve funding issues for the Second Injury Fund while also providing protections and predictability to employers concerning workers’ compensation.
