Senator Joseph Keaveny Highlights Important Work of Fathers' Support Center and Its Community Involvement

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Joseph Keaveny, D-St. Louis, shares with constituents the continued work of the Fathers’ Support Center (FSC), located in the St. Louis area, and its recent involvement with KMOV Channel 4’s investigative team, which will soon highlight on its station FSC Family Formation participants — showcasing their first days in the program, sharing bonding experiences with their children, and finally featuring their much-awaited graduations.

The St. Louis FSC is a nonprofit organization committed to creating positive outcomes for children and families by helping fathers become responsible parents.  With more than 15 years of experience in the community, the FSC has consistently provided comprehensive services to men who want to learn how to become responsible fathers and be committed to a strong family relationship.  The Family Formation, featured in the KMOV special, is a core program of the FSC in which men enrolled go through a rigorous and demanding six-week “boot camp” designed to give participants the tools necessary to successfully parent, as well provide these fathers with personal, spiritual and emotional development skills.

“I applaud the continuous work of this steadfast organization in the St. Louis area and the countless lives it has helped in its process to create better families in our communities,” said Sen. Keaveny.  “However, the success of this organization does not stop at better family involvement.  Participants of this FSC programs have gone on to have increases in job retention and employment placement, are able to provide more financial support to their families, and have more interaction with their children.  These positive results are seen throughout our communities, benefiting fathers, their children and the St. Louis area as a whole.”

The hour-long program shown on KMOV is tentatively scheduled to air on Saturday, Oct. 26.  Visit the FSC’s Facebook page where the organization will announce the future air time.

“I am eager to watch this special highlighting the significant work of members of the FSC,” said Sen. Keaveny.  “Citizens throughout our community need to be aware of the FSC’s critical services and how graduates of the Family Formation program are able to receive the necessary life skills to become responsible fathers and productive members of our communities.  Countless individuals across the St. Louis area could benefit from this organization’s assistance.  I urge you to tune into this upcoming television special and learn the numerous ways to increase family involvement in our communities.”

The FSC has served more than 10,000 fathers and their families, including more than 25,000 children.  To learn more about the FSC, visit www.fatherssupportcenter.org or call (314) 333-4170.
