INDEPENDENCE – State Sen. Paul LeVota, D-Independence, will host a Community Health & Safety Fair in Independence on Saturday, Nov. 2. Local businesses, non-profit organizations, and community groups will be on hand to help connect residents of all ages to programs and services that could benefit them. The Health & Safety Fair will take place in the parking lot of the Hy-Vee Store at 1525 E. 23rd St, Independence from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“This is an opportunity for citizens to find out about all the different programs our area has to offer and to provide ways to become more involved in the community,” LeVota said.
Representatives from the following organizations will be participating:
- Hy-Vee Nutrition & Pharmacy
- Community America Credit Union
- UMKC School of Dentistry
- Building a Healthier Independence Initiative
- Swope Health Services
- Independence Neighborhood Watch
- Missouri Health Alliance
- Jackson County Health Department’s Car Seat Safety Program
- Independence Police Department’s Child ID program
“From blood pressure check-ups to credit union services to low-cost dental clinics, there will be a variety of services for people of the 11th Senatorial District can benefit,” LeVota added.
