JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Doug Libla, R-Poplar Bluff, raised his right hand on Wednesday, Jan. 9, and took the oath of office to support the U.S. and Missouri constitutions and faithfully perform his official duties as the state senator for the 25th District in the upper chamber of the Legislature. Sen. Libla is one of 12 new senators who were sworn in on the opening day of the First Regular Session of the 97th General Assembly.
“It was a great honor to be elected back in November to serve the citizens who reside in the eight counties and more than 150 precincts that make up the 25th Senatorial District,” said Sen. Libla. “I’ve been looking forward to this day and the years that lie ahead for me in the General Assembly to do meaningful work on behalf of the people who sent me here to Jefferson City and represent their voice in state government.”
As a businessman from southeast Missouri, Sen. Libla is committed to helping businesses in the state grow and expand the use of Missouri products across state lines, marketing Show-Me State products on both a national and international level.
“I began my business career more than 40 years ago by pumping gas, changing oil, fixing flat tires, and washing and repairing cars,” said Sen. Libla. “I took this experience, along with the hard work and the strong ethics I learned from my parents, and applied these life lessons by partnering with my brother David in joint business ventures that led to my life’s dream – being a part of a flagship company that contributes to our state’s economy and serves as a symbol of our state’s values and perseverance.”
Sen. Libla plans to work on several business-related measures this legislative session. To read his biography, view a list of constituent services or keep up with his work in the upper chamber, visit Sen. Libla’s Missouri Senate website at www.senate.mo.gov/libla.
