Doug Libla Appointed to Several Legislative Committees
Named Vice Chair of Senate Agriculture Committee

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Doug Libla, R-Poplar Bluff, was recently appointed to serve on several legislative committees.  He was named vice chair of the Senate Agriculture, Food Production and Outdoor Resources Committee.  This committee is responsible for considering legislation regarding food production, Missouri’s state park system, and conservation of the state’s natural resources, among other agriculture-related issues.

“Agriculture is vital to our economy, especially in the 25th District. We need to do what we can at the state level to remove burdensome regulations affecting our farmers. I look forward to serving as vice chair of the Agriculture, Food Production and Outdoor Resources Committee,” said Sen. Libla.  “Listening to testimony regarding bills before committee is an important step in the legislative process. Through committee work, senators have the opportunity to ask questions of bill supporters and opponents before the legislation receives a vote to move on and be debated by the full Senate body.”

Sen. Libla was also named a member of the Senate’s Education Committee, which considers all state education-related measures, including public schools, libraries, programs and higher education institutions; General Laws Committee, which reports on all bills related to a general topic; Rules, Joint Rules, Resolutions and Ethics Committee, which considers rules for the government of the Senate, reviews matters relating to ethics and the conduct of public officials and employees, and examines all bills passed by the General Assembly; and the Seniors, Families and Pensions Committee, which considers bills regarding the preservation of the quality of life for senior citizens, as well as family and children’s issues.  This committee also examines legislation relating to retirement, pensions and pension plans, among other pertinent issues.
