JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Doug Libla, R-Poplar Bluff, was recently presented with artwork from a young Missouri artist through a program operated by the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri. Kyle Holden, a 3rd grade student from Puxico R-8 School District, will have his artwork on display in Sen. Libla’s office for the next year. His was selected out of many entries featured in the 13th Annual Children’s Arts Festival to present his work to Sen. Libla during Missouri Fine Arts Day at the Capitol.
“It is always wonderful when my constituents — of all ages — stop by my office at the State Capitol, but this visit was even more special because I was presented with visual art to showcase in my Capitol office for all visitors to see,” said Sen. Libla. “I want to thank Kyle for allowing me to display his exceptional artwork, and thank his family for accompanying him on his visit to the State Capitol. I also want to applaud the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri for continuing this worthwhile program that reminds lawmakers that the arts are instrumental in every child’s development. We need to continue to promote this often overlooked program before it is too late for our future generations.”
The Children’s Arts Festival was developed in 2000 to highlight the classroom work of area art teachers and their students. This year’s festival included pieces from students in 3rd-8th grade, which are highlighted throughout the month of February.
