The holidays are here. The Christmas tree is trimmed, presents are wrapped, and Santa is on his way. This is the time of year when little children’s eyes are full of sparkle and hope. Adults watch with joy as the little ones tear into gifts and are passed a little too much candy by grandparents.
The holiday spirit tends to remind us even more to count our blessings, to truly recognize all that we have, and how fortunate we truly are. It can be hard to remember those blessings. We rush from one event to another, one place to another. Hoping to find the perfect gift or memento for friends and family. But in the midst of all of the holiday hustle and bustle we must take a moment to truly count our blessings.
We all get wrapped up in the day to day activities of life, and can easily find ourselves forgetting that we are each truly blessed. Even things that we find frustrating, hard to do or bothersome are all blessings in disguise. We must realize that we, each of us, are blessed to have what is ours. I thank the Lord for the many years he has given me as your public servant, with the duty to fight for your rights as a Missouri citizen. Over the past 11 years I have stood firm for what is right, and I am blessed to have had the support of my constituents along that journey.
As we enjoy these family holidays steeped in traditions both new and old, we should also take a moment and remember the less fortunate, those who are facing the holidays during times of stress, and some members of the Armed Forces who must serve and protect our country, while leaving their family to celebrate without them. As you open presents with your loved ones, be sure to observe a moment of gratitude for our troops, who are proud to serve our country while wishing they could be home with their friends and family.
Have a wonderful holiday season with your loved ones, and if you are traveling, please stay safe. Merry Christmas, and may God bless you always. |
