Senator Gary Romine Appointed to
Legislative Education Panels

JEFFERSON CITY — State Senator Gary Romine, R-Farmington, was recently appointed to the Missouri Senate Education Committee and the Joint Committee on Education. Both groups consider legislation relating to K-12 and higher education in Missouri.

“I’m honored to serve on these committees, and I look forward to working with my fellow members,” said Sen. Romine. “One of the most important duties of state government is ensuring every child in Missouri, regardless of where he or she lives, receives a world-class education, and I pledge to do all I can to meet this critical goal.”

Senator Romine is a former teacher who taught in the Branson and Farmington areas. Prior to taking office, he served as president of the Mineral Area College Board of Trustees, giving him a unique perspective on state education policy and its effect on local school districts and higher education institutions.

Additionally, Sen. Romine will serve on the General Laws Committee, which reports on all bills related to a general topic; the Jobs, Economic Development and Local Government Committee, which considers bills relating to the promotion of economic development, the creation and retention of jobs, and the state’s tourism industry, among other duties; and the Seniors, Families and Pensions Committee, which examines bills regarding the preservation of the quality of life for senior citizens, family and children’s issues, and legislation relating to retirement pensions and pension plans, among other issues.
