JEFFERSON CITY — Recently, Sen. David Pearce, R-Warrensburg, was acknowledged, along with seven other members of the General Assembly, as a Children’s Champion for 2013. This honor is given by the Partnership for Children, an organization working throughout the state toward long-range, systemic changes in public policies for the betterment of Missouri children’s lives.
“I have and will continue to devote much of my work as a lawmaker to issues concerning children, including education,” Sen. Pearce said. “We have to stand up for the young men and women of our state who will grow into our next generation of leaders.”
Partnership for Children is a not-for-profit organization that advocates for children and various issues concerning young Missourians. The Legislative Wrap Up event celebrated the eight legislators, four senators and four representatives, who worked diligently to pass measures to create improved futures for children’s health, safety and education.
Senator Pearce spoke on the importance of advocacy in the Missouri State Capitol and gave a review of the 2013 session, as well as potential opportunities for the 2014 session.
“It was an honor to work with Partnership for Children this past legislative session, and I look forward to working with the organization again next year,” Sen. Pearce said. “It was an honor to receive this award for just doing my job as a senator.”
