Senator Chappelle-Nadal Elected as the
Minority Caucus Whip in the Missouri Senate

Jefferson City — State Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal, D-University City, was elected by a unanimous vote today (11-6) from her peers to serve as Whip of the Senate Minority Caucus during the 98th General Assembly. The leadership role will be added to the minority caucus next year.

“It is an honor to serve my fellow caucus members,” said Sen. Chappelle-Nadal.  “Whips are a party's ‘enforcers,’ who typically make sure caucus members are ready and present to cast votes on legislation.  I am glad we could all come together and I look forward to working with my fellow colleagues in the Senate next year.”

Sen. Chappelle-Nadal, a Democrat, was elected to serve in the Senate in 2010 and served three terms in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2004-2010. Her term as Minority Caucus Whip will begin with the 98th Regular Session of the General Assembly, which starts on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015.
