Free Teen Driver Program
One of the leading causes of death among teenagers in the United States is vehicular crashes. Young, and sometimes inexperienced, drivers are at a higher risk of being in an accident. This is why it’s critical we equip those on our roadways with the knowledge they need to stay safe.
Ford Driving Skills for Life is a free program that was developed in 2003 in conjunction with the Governors Highway Safety Association and a panel of experts. The event gives teens an opportunity to drive specially-equipped vehicles on road courses under the direct supervision of professional instructors. The goal is to increase their skills in hazard recognition, space management, speed management, reaction, braking and stopping distances, and how to avoid the dangers of distracted and impaired driving.
The Ford Drive Skill for Life will be held at Worlds of Fun, located at 4545 Worlds of Fun, Kansas City, Mo., 64161, on Thursday, Aug. 21 through Friday, Aug. 22. There are two sessions each day, the first from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the second from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Registration is limited and a signed consent form is required. I encourage you to consider attending this event. For more information or to register, please visit www.drivingskillsforlife.com. Please bring the signed waiver form and your teen’s license or permit to the event.
