Assistance Available for Enrolling in Federal Health Insurance Marketplace
One of the biggest changes to come out of the federal Affordable Care Act was the creation of health insurance marketplaces, where those without coverage could shop through different plans and choose the one that best fit their needs.
By creating competition between insurance companies, costs are kept down so that many Missourians who once couldn’t afford healthcare now have access to it. It has been incredibly beneficial to thousands of citizens in our state. It filled a much-needed coverage gap, especially for the working poor.
However, navigating the marketplace and picking the best plan is not easy. The sheer number of options and the slight differences in each plan can make it extremely difficult. Luckily, there are nonprofit groups and organizations that have stepped forward to help Missourians take advantage of the insurance marketplaces, and the peace of mind healthcare coverage brings.
Recently, the McDaniel Hazley Group (MHG) opened its new Affordable Healthcare Enrollment and Call Center at 1520 E. 18th St., in Kansas City. At the center, individuals and families can sit down with an MHG professional to get one-on-one information about what healthcare options are available. Walk-ins are welcome, and these services are free of charge.
I strongly urge citizens in the 9th District who are enrolling in an insurance plan to utilize MHG’s services. It’s critical that as many citizens as possible take advantage of the insurance marketplace to find healthcare coverage for themselves and their families.
The center’s hours are Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call (816) 326-0035 or visit their website at www.mhgobamacare.com. |
