JEFFERSON CITY — In order to give citizens the tools they need to help fight and prevent chronic disease and support a healthy lifestyle, Sen. Shalonn “Kiki” Curls, D-Kansas City, is hosting the 8th Annual Public Health & Safety Fair on June 7, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Samuel U. Rodger’s Health Center, located at 825 Euclid Ave. in Kansas City.
Services and events scheduled for the Public Health & Safety Fair include health screenings, car and booster seats for those who meet federal poverty income level requirements, bicycle helmets and bicycle giveaways, a mini-football camp and much more.
“We’ve had tremendous success with these Public Health & Safety fairs in our community, which help build community partnerships and provide our citizens with access to beneficial screenings, such as eye exams and blood pressure, dental, diabetes, mammograms and body mass index (BMI) screenings,” said Sen. Curls. “Numerous organizations and businesses team up with officials to support the Public Health & Safety Fair. It’s through these collaborative efforts and events, such as the Public Health and Safety Fair, that we can make a difference in disparities found throughout our communities.”
Senator Curls continues, “I hope we can make this another successful year, and I am excited to see all the hard work and effort come together on behalf of the citizens in our communities. There is NO COST to participate in the 2014 Public Health & Safety Fair, so I urge citizens to attend this extremely important event.”
