Sen. Paul LeVota Issues Statement on New Online Voter Registration Program Launched by Secretary of State's Office

JEFFERSON CITY—Senator Paul LeVota, D-Independence, released a statement today in regards to the new online voter registration tool recently unveiled by the Secretary of State’s office:

“I applaud Secretary of State Jason Kander for the new online voter registration tool and strongly encourage citizens to visit the site.  Civil engagement is the foundation of a strong democracy, and no other public action exemplifies that duty as much as voting.

Unfortunately, countless citizens forfeit their right to vote.  A main cause is the lack of an easy way to register.  Now the new online tool makes this process more convenient and simple for Missouri citizens.  By simply visiting the site, individuals can register to vote, change their registration address, and learn about our state’s voting system.

The new voter registration site is a perfect example of how we can use technology to increase government accountability and increase public participation.”
