Department of Revenue to Hold Tax Assistance Forum
The beginning of January marks the start of the tax filing season, when individuals and families submit their federal and state tax returns. For some, this can be an exceptionally complicated process, particularly for those who claim deductions, such as the elderly, which requires the use of a longer and more detailed form. It can also be a daunting task for low-income individuals and citizens with disabilities. They don’t always have the funds to hire a private CPA or tax firm to complete their returns.
To address this problem, the Missouri Department of Revenue (DOR) will host a free forum to provide Missourians with disabilities, the elderly and low-income citizens on free tax assistance that may be available to them.
DORe will host a free forum to provide Missourians with disabilities, the elderly and low-income citizens with information on free tax assistance that may be available to them. The forum, which will be attended by a representative with American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), will be held from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and from noon to 12:45 p.m., Monday, Jan. 12 in the Kansas City Public Library Westport Branch at 118 Westport Rd., Kansas City. The forum is designed to provide information only.
I urge citizens to take advantage of this opportunity. For more information, visit www.dor.mo.gov. |
