This bill would change the laws regarding primary elections in Missouri by moving the presidential primary from February to March during each presidential election year, and would increase the state committee filing fee for a presidential candidate. Cut 1: Senators returned to floor debate Tuesday (9-13) afternoon to debate several bills under consideration during special session. Senate Leader Robert N. Mayer, R-Dexter, presents Senate Bill 8. This omnibus economic development bill would modify certain provisions of Missouri’s tax credit programs, and create various tax incentives, including the “Aerotropolis Trade Incentive and Tax Credit Act.”
Cut 2: Senator Timothy Green, D-Spanish Lake, discusses how creating a cargo hub is a mechanism to encourage companies to use St. Louis to transport their products.
Cut 3: Senator Jolie Justus, D-Kansas City, speaks against a proposed amendment to Senate Bill 8, which would have removed the “Aerotropolis Trade Incentive and Tax Credit” from the bill. Senator Justus says she believes what is good for St. Louis is also good for Kansas City. Cut 1: Senators returned to floor debate Monday (9-12) evening to hear discussion on Senate Bill 1, a measure that would change certain provisions relating to communications between school district employees and students. Senator Jane Cunningham, R-Chesterfield, sponsors the measure and explains why the social media provisions in the bill are under revision.
Cut 2: Senator Jolie Justus, D-Kansas City, likes the original bill, and agrees with the changes presented in Senate Bill 1. She also wants to make sure social media regulations between school officials and students are decided by individual school districts. The First Extraordinary Session of the 96th General Assembly began on Tuesday (9/6). The scope of the special session includes tax credit reform, economic development and job creation measures. Other issues could become a part of the session as well. Senate Leader Robert Mayer, R-Dexter, says this includes some help for Joplin, after a devastating earthquake hit the town back in May.
