Chamber Panorama Senate Tapestries Photo Features
Designed by Architect Egerton Swartwout, the Senate Chamber is a large and lofty room that measures 68 feet by 70 feet. From its marble walls and columns to its artwork and decorative lighting, the chamber is the center of activity for the upper body of the Legislature.

The Missouri Capitol is the people's building. Both symobolically and in actual practice, it serves as the center of government in Missouri. With the ever-changing seasons, our State Capitol provides for an excellent backdrop for seasonal photographs.

Scroll through this photo to see a 360 degree view of the Senate Chamber, featuring a rich fabric ceiling 50 feet above the floor of the chamber and a semi-circular colonnade of richly-veined marble that rests high upon a marble base. The tapestries that hang in the Senate Lounge were designed and installed in 1927. In 2005, they were painstakingly restored. Photo features showcase special events and areas at the State Capitol, such as Senators gathering for an end of session press conference or one of the many interior skylights.
