John P. Barrett served the people of the 6th District (part of St. Louis City). Born in St. Louis, he received his education from St. Louis public and parochial schools. Senator Barrett worked as a salesman; and served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He was elected to the Senate in 1954, and re-elected in 1958 and 1962. Senator Barrett resigned from office in 1965. (Democrat)
