COMMITTEE
HB 1284 -- AMBULANCE DISTRICT BOARD MEMBERS
SPONSOR: Kissell
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee
on Local Government and Related Matters by a vote of 20 to 0.
This bill allows each board member of an ambulance district to
receive an attendance fee not to exceed $100 for each board
meeting. An additional $50 attendance fee may be paid to the
chairman of the board. Limits are set on the number of
attendance fees a board member may receive in a month. The
secretary and treasurer of the board, if also members of the
board, may each receive additional compensation not to exceed
$1,000 per calendar year for the performance of their duties.
All attendance fees and compensation must be authorized by the
board and may not be paid to any member elected before August
28, 2000.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that ambulance district board
members work long hard hours and deserve to be paid more than
mileage.
Testifying for the bill were Representative Kissell; and
Ambulance Associations of Missouri.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
