HB 1465 -- MOTOR VEHICLE DRIVER'S LICENSE (Ransdall) This bill allows 2 points to be assessed against a driver's license upon conviction of a moving violation of a federal traffic ordinance and 8 points on the first conviction for driving with excessive blood alcohol content in violation of a federal law or regulation. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
HB 1465 -- MOTOR VEHICLE DRIVER'S LICENSE CO-SPONSORS: Ransdall, Hampton, Williams (121), Skaggs COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Criminal Law by a vote of 18 to 0. This bill allows 2 points to be assessed against a driver's license upon conviction of a moving violation of a federal traffic ordinance and 8 points on the first conviction for driving with excessive blood alcohol content in violation of a federal law or regulation. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill closes a loophole in state law by allowing local prosecutors to charge intoxication-- related offenses to the extent imposed by federal law when the violations take place on federal property.
