HB 1579 -- LIQUOR LICENSE SPONSOR: Hoppe COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Local Government and Related Matters by a vote of 20 to 0. This bill clarifies language regarding the remittance of license fees. Procedures are established regarding checks returned due to insufficient funds. A $50 handling fee must be paid to the Division of Liquor Control for such checks. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that everything in this bill is currently being done by the Division of Liquor Control. The bill allows the payment of liquor licenses by personal check. Testifying for the bill were Representative Hoppe; Division of Liquor Control; and Missouri Association of Beverage Retailers. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
