CCS SCS HB 1848 -- LICENSURE OF PERFUSIONISTS; EXAMINATIONS OF PHYSICIANS AND SURGEONS Prior to January 1, 2001, unlicensed persons actively engaged in the practice of perfusion are allowed to make application with the Board of Healing Arts for licensure. The bill also allows the Board of Healing Arts to waive the physician or surgeon licensing examination requirements for student applicants who are working toward an MD/PhD degree in a program accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education and a regional university accrediting body.
HB 1848 -- EXAMINATIONS OF PHYSICIANS AND SURGEONS (Treadway) This bill allows the Board of Healing Arts to waive the physician or surgeon licensing examination requirements for student applicants who are working toward an MD/PhD degree in a program accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education and a regional university accrediting body. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
HB 1848 -- EXAMINATIONS OF PHYSICIANS AND SURGEONS SPONSOR: Treadway COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Professional Registration and Licensing by a vote of 13 to 0. This bill allows the Board of Healing Arts to waive the physician or surgeon licensing examination requirements for student applicants who are working toward an MD/PhD degree in a program accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education and a regional university accrediting body. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this bill would allow the Board of Healing Arts to grant waivers to physicians who enroll in graduate programs and are unable to complete their licensing exam requirements within the 7-year time period. Testifying for the bill were Representative Treadway; Washington University; and Missouri State Medical Association. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
