SB 262 - Existing law requires elementary and secondary schools to offer courses of instruction in the Constitution of the United States and of the state of Missouri and in American history and institutions to the extent required by the Commissioner of Education and provides that such courses shall continue at the post-secondary level to an extent determined by the Commissioner of Higher Education. This act requires that such requirements be established by rule.
The act provides that out-of-state college transfer students
need not retake the course and exam in Missouri if the course and
exam already taken and passed are substantially equivalent to the
courses and exams offered in Missouri. The act requires the
Coordinating Board for Higher Education to establish a process
for institutions to use to determine whether a particular
student's course and exam are "substantially equivalent" to those
at Missouri institutions.
