Current Bill Summary

SCS/SB 497 - This act authorizes categorical state school aid, subject to appropriation, of $700 per year to school districts for each limited English proficient (LEP) student educated by the district during the preceding year. If annual appropriations are insufficient to fully fund the payments, the per pupil amount shall be uniformly prorated for all such payments to the extent necessary to ensure that the total of the prorated payments equals the funds appropriated.
