AN ACT
To amend chapter 217, RSMo, by adding thereto two new sections relating to pay for corrections officers.
Section A. Chapter 217, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto two new sections, to be known as sections 217.105 and 217.107, to read as follows:
217.105. On July 1, 2003, corrections officers shall receive a one-time salary increase of thirty dollars per month for each year of service as a corrections officer.
217.107. 1. Any corrections officer who has accrued any overtime hours may choose to use those hours as compensatory leave time provided that the leave time is available and agreed upon by both the corrections officer and his or her supervisor.
2. Any corrections officer who at any time during fiscal year 2003 has accrued more than forty overtime hours may give notice, in writing, to the department that he or she wants to be paid for such overtime hours instead of using them as compensatory leave time. The department shall, subject to appropriations and within thirty days of receipt of such notice, pay the corrections officer for the overtime hours he or she has accrued up to the date of receipt of such notice.
3. At the beginning of fiscal year 2004, and at the beginning of each following fiscal year the department shall, subject to appropriations, pay all corrections officers in full for any overtime hours accrued during the previous fiscal year which have not already been paid or used in the form of compensatory leave time.
