A 1985 graduate of St. Dominic High School in O'Fallon, Jon attended the University of Missouri at Columbia where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a commission as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve in 1988. In 1995, he received his Master of Arts in Security Management from Webster University in St. Louis, Mo.
In November of 2002, Senator Dolan was elected to his first four-year term representing the people of the second senatorial district which includes West St. Charles and all of Lincoln County. He formally served three terms in the Missouri House of Representatives representing the people of the thirteenth district in West St. Charles County from 1997 to 2003.
His quick wit and enthusiasm has served him well in the General Assembly. He is Chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee and is leading the effort to improve and restore the people's trust in our statewide transportation system. Senator Dolan is also a member of the Judiciary, Civil and Criminal Jurisprudence Committee; the Financial and Governmental Organization, Veterans & Elections Committee; the Aging, Families, Public & Mental Health Committee and the Joint Homeland Security Committee.
When not acting in his capacity as a state legislator, Senator Dolan is Major Dolan, a citizen soldier who serves as a Public Affairs Officer in the Missouri Army National Guard. He is currently the Commander of the 70th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment in Jefferson City. His active duty training includes the Military Police Captain's Career Course, the Department of Defense Information School, the Ordnance Officer Basic Course, Army Basic Training and the U.S. Army Airborne School.
His professional experience comprises nine years as a security management professional. He began in retail security management, then served the Central Intelligence Agency as a Special Agent in their Office of Security and finally worked in the private sector as a security systems sales and design consultant.
At home, Senator Dolan is a member of seven Chambers of Commerce, the Wentzville Rotary Club, the Knights of Columbus and St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He resides in Lake St. Louis with his wife Leanne, daughter Hannah and son Jonathan.
