Current Bill Summary

SB 1261 - This act expands the diseases currently recognized as "occupational diseases" under the Workers Compensation Law to include any form of hepatitis or HIV.

Further the act expands those individuals who may claim an occupational disease within Chapter 287, RSMo, to include peace officers certified pursuant to Chapter 590, RSMo, and salaried or volunteer firefighters, paramedics or emergency medical technicians who have acquired a diseases of the lungs, respiratory tract or disease of the heart or cardiovascular system, including carcinoma.

This act is similar to SCS/SB 313 (2003).
