Current Bill Summary

SB 1226 - This act prohibits a person from qualifying as a candidate for any public elective office who has been convicted of, or pled guilty to, any felony or misdemeanor under the laws of the United States. A conviction or plea of guilty to such felony or misdemeanor shall result in the automatic suspension of an individual currently holding office. The suspension shall continue until all appellate review of the original trial court proceedings are exhausted.
