Senator Delbert L. Scott, represents Missouri’s 28th district which
includes the counties of Pettis, Henry, St. Clair, Benton, Hickory,
Dallas, Polk, Cedar and Barton Counties. After serving 9 terms in
the Missouri house, Scott was elected to the Senate in 2002. Raised in
the small town of Lowry City, Scott graduated from Southwest Missouri
State College with a teaching degree, taught school for 4 years and
returned home to join the family hardware/home furnishings business where
he remains active today.
Senator Scott has been involved in his community, served as President of the Lowry City Chamber of
Commerce, secretary of the Lowry City Industrial Development Authority, and was
elected to the Lowry City Board of Alderman in 1984. He is a deacon at
the Lowry City Church of God (Holiness), a member of the Board of Trustees
of the Kansas City College and Bible School, served for 15 years as
Activities Director of the Harmony Hill Youth Camp, near Fulton,
and has written and published teaching materials for the "Way, Truth & Life"
Sunday School Curriculum. Singing in organized groups since he
was a teenager, Scott was a member of the General Assembly Gospel
Singers. The group performed patriotic and gospel music across Missouri, from
small churches all the way to Chiefs, Royals and Cardinals stadiums
singing the national anthem. The Master s Four Quartet, in which Scott sang
bass, recorded an album entitled “It’s Time To Sing”. His family home
furnishings business, Scott's of Lowry City, Inc. is a 37 year
member of the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB). He
served on the Dealer Advisory Council of Townley Sentry Hardware in Kansas
City and Denver. A Delegate to District and State Republican Conventions
in 1988, 1992, 1996 and 2000, Scott served as an Alternate Delgate to the
Republican National Convention in Philadelphia in August of 2000.
In 1996, he was the 4th District Republican Elector. In 1988, Representative
Scott was a delegate for the American Council of Young Political Leaders
(ACYPL) to India. He has been involved in numerous legislative conventions
and study groups and is a member of the American Legislative
Exchange Council and the National Council of State Legislators (NCSL). He is also a
member of Missouri Invitational Celebrity Turkey Hunt organization
in Warsaw, Mo.
Senator Scott is a four time recipient of the Missouri Farm Bureau
“Friend of Agriculture” award. He has been honored by the Missouri
Chamber of Commerce “Spirit of Enterprise” award, the Associated Industries
of Missouri (AIM) “Voice of Missouri Award”, the Missouri Community
College Association MCCA Distinguished Legislator Award and has
received Legislator of the Year honors by the Missouri Propane Gas
Association, the Missouri Recreational Dealers Association and the Missouri Order
of the Pachyderms. Elected 4 times to leadership positions in the Missouri
House, Scott was also elected to the Senate leadership team as a
freshman senator. He serves as Chairman of the Pensions and General Laws Committee, Vice Chairman of the
Transportation Committee; and also serves on the Financial and Governmental Organizations, Veterans' Affairs and Elections Committee, the Agriculture,
Conservation, Parks and Natural Resources Committee, the Committee on Small Business, Insurance and Industrial Relations and the Joint Committee on Public Employee Retirement.

Missouri. Scott now resides in Lowry City with his wife Donna.
They have
three grown children: Todd, Timothy, and Tiffany.
