SB 707 - Currently, seventeen charter schools operate within the Kansas City school district, and one of those seventeen will cease to operate in the near future. This act imposes a sixteen school limit on the number of charter schools that may be operated within the Kansas City school district. Further, the act requires the state board of education to revoke the charter of any charter school that for two successive years falls below the "proficient" level for each grade level tested on the mathematics and communication arts sections of the MAP.
This act contains an emergency clause.
