Current Bill Summary

SB 1209 - This act splits the seventeenth judicial circuit, currently consisting of the counties of Cass and Johnson, into two judicial circuits. The seventeenth judicial circuit will consist of the county of Cass, and the newly-created forty-sixth judicial circuit will consist of the county of Johnson.

This act requires that juvenile court personnel within the seventeenth judicial circuit will be paid at the same rate as juvenile court personnel located in any multi-county judicial circuit. The act also provides that the judge currently in the seventeenth circuit's division one position will become the sole circuit judge for the seventeenth circuit following the split, and the judge currently in the seventeenth circuit's division two position will become the sole circuit judge for the forty-sixth circuit.
