SCS/SBs 457 & 217 - This act makes state restrictions on the transfer of concealable firearms identical to certain federal restrictions. The penalty for an illegal transfer of concealable firearms is reduced from a class A misdemeanor to an infraction punishable by a fine of not more than $100. The permit requirement for the purchase of a concealable firearm is repealed. These provisions of the act are identical to HB 462 (2007) and SB 457 (2007) and are similar to certain provisions of CCS/HCS/SCS/SBs 62 & 41 (2007) & HB 462 (2007).
This act repeals the provision of law allowing political subdivisions to have ordinances that regulate the open carrying of firearms or discharge of firearms within a jurisdiction unless in conformity with state law.
This provision of the act is identical to SB 217 (2007).
