SB 827 – This act allows a metropolitan school district to offer an increased starting salary for teachers of math, science, special education, and English as a second language in order to attract and retain qualified teachers. The amount of the salary increase shall be between $3,000 and $5,000, as determined by the school district. This act creates the Metropolitan School District Improvement Fund in the state treasury. This act is similar to a provision contained in SB 690 (2007).
