SB 779 – This act requires the state to provide fully subsidized preschool at licensed child facilities that employ highly qualified teachers for children residing in a school district classified as unaccredited or provisionally accredited by the state board of education. Children are eligible if they are one or two years from entering kindergarten and if they are eligible for a reduced lunch price under federal law. Fifty percent of the funding shall be distributed to community-based programs. This act is similar to a provision in SB 690 (2007).
