HCS/HB 481 - This act requires that awards for damages against public entities under certain provisions of the Missouri Human Rights Act not include punitive or exemplary damages. Nor shall punitive or exemplary damages be awarded against any officer or employee of a public entity for conduct arising out of and performed in connection with their official duties on behalf of the public entity.

Currently, the limitation on the monetary amount that can be awarded against the state and its public entities for certain claims is adjusted annually. This act specifies that the monetary limitation to be applied to a particular claim is the limitation in force at the time of the original occurrence giving rise to the claim.
