Senator Jack Goodman, a Republican, represents the counties of Barry, Lawrence, McDonald,
Ozark, Stone and Taney in the Missouri Senate. He was elected to the Senate in November 2005.
In addition to his legislative duties, Senator Goodman is an attorney. He was elected to the
Missouri House of Representatives in 2002 and 2004. In his second House term, he served as the
Assistant Majority Leader. He also served as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Dade County
from 1997-2002.
Senator Goodman and his family are active church members.
Senator Goodman served as Chairman of the 7th U.S. Congressional District Republican
Committee and is presently on the Government Relations Committee of the American Lung
Association of Missouri. A charter member of the Mt. Vernon Kiwanis Club, Senator Goodman
served several terms on the board of directors. He is also past president of the39th Judicial
Circuit Bar Association; and member of the Mt. Vernon Rotary Club; Lawrence County Farm
Bureau; Southwest Missouri Cattleman's Association; Decatur Lodge #400 in Pierce City;
Lawrence County Republicans; two-term past president, Lawrence County Pachyderm Club and
Pachyderm state board of directors. Senator Goodman is also a member of several local
Chambers of Commerce and served two years as co-chair and two years as chair of the events
committee for the Lawrence County Apple Butter Makin' Days festival.
Senator Goodman has been honored with the Award for Excellence in the Study of Local
Government and the Award for Excellence in the Study of Product Liability. He has also
received numerous awards for legislative and community service.
A 1991 graduate of Pierce City High School, Senator Goodman earned a bachelor's degree in
philosophy from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1995 and his juris doctor degree from
the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in 1998.
In September, 2007, Senator Goodman was selected as Assistant Majority Floor Leader of the Missouri State Senate.
Born September 9, 1973, in Aurora, Mo., Senator Goodman lives in Mt. Vernon with his wife,
Laura, and sons, Jack Elliott Goodman and William True Goodman.
