HB 1942 - Under current law, at least 6 members of a county Emergency Telephone Service 911 Board must represent public safety agencies. The act increases this requirement to 7 for such members in Polk County and prescribes which agencies the 7 members must represent. Under current law, if a county tax has been approved by the voters for emergency services, the governing body of the county must annually adjust the tax rate, publish the rate in its minutes, and notify retailers. The act switches this duty from the county governing body to the emergency service board. The act states that emergency service boards are political subdivisions of the state. Provisions of the act are similar to the perfected SB 849 (2010). ERIKA JAQUES
