Senator Wes Shoemyer represents Senate District 18, which includes the counties of Adair, Audrain, Clark, Knox, Lewis, Marion, Monroe, Pike, Putnam, Ralls, Schuyler, Scotland and Shelby.
Wes was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in November 2000 representing the 9th Legislative District which includes parts of Monroe, Audrain, Boone, Chariton and all of Howard County. He served three terms before running for, and being elected to the Missouri Senate in 2006.
Senator Shoemyer lives on his family farm and has owned and operated the farm in Monroe County for over 20 years.
He is the voice for independent family farmers and northeast Missouri.
Senator Shoemyer is a recipient of the American Farmer degree from FFA, a member of the Missouri Farm Bureau, Monroe County Democratic Club, NEMO Grain Processors, an ethanol production facility; National Farmers Organization and Missouri Farmers Union, State President; Institute for Rural America, President; Ozark Mountain Pork Processing Plant, member of Premium Ag and has served as vice president for the Monroe County Farm Bureau.
He attends Oak Grove Baptist Church and is a member of Shelbina Lodge #228.

He is a 1979 graduate of South Shelby County R-IV High School, and attended the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Born March 30, 1961 in Hannibal, Senator Shoemyer lives in rural Monroe County with his wife, Cheryl. They have four children: Wendy, Laura, Amy and Andrew.
