SCS/SB 143 - Under current law, religious and charitable associations organized under Chapter 352 are required to submit charter amendments to the circuit court in order to amend their charters. This act allows such organizations to amend their charters by submitting the amendments and a copy of the original articles of agreement to the Secretary of State. If the articles are found to have been falsified, the amendment shall be rejected. Similarly, under current law, such organizations are required to submit articles of acceptance to the circuit court in order to convert to a Chapter 355 nonprofit corporation. This act allows such organizations to do so by submitting the articles to the Secretary of State.
