SB 320 - This act modifies the composition of the University of Missouri Board of Curators. One member of the board must be a student curator, who will have the right to vote on any matter before the board, including the hiring or firing of the president of the UM system, the general counsel, the secretary of the board, and the general officers of the university. The student curator cannot participate in decisions regarding the hiring or firing of faculty or staff. The student curator may be from any congressional district, which may also be the same as any member of the board. The first student curator will be appointed in January 2014, must be a graduate or professional student, and will serve a two-year term. The student curator replaces the non-voting student representative. This act also modifies the procedure for selecting the student curator if the university adds additional campuses. This act is substantially similar to SB 747 (2012) and is similar to HB 629 (2013) and HB 1257 (2012).
