SCS/SB 769 - This act requires health benefit plans to provide coverage for the diagnosis and treatment of eating disorders. The act further requires that the provided coverage include a broad array of specialist services as proscribed as necessary by the patient's treatment team. Coverage under this act is limited to medically necessary treatment and the treatment plan must include all elements necessary for a health benefit plan to pay claims. This act limits a health benefit plan's right to review the treatment plan. This act also requires that the Department of Insurance make an annual report to the General Assembly on insured persons diagnosed with an eating disorder and claims for treatment and requires health benefit plans to provide the Department of Insurance with the data necessary to make that report. This act is similar to HB 1493 (2014), SB 160 (2013), SB 634 (2012), SB 229 (2011), SB 744 (2010), SB 463 (2009), and HB 519 (2009).
