Current Bill Summary

SB 928 - This act provides that any person who first serves as a member of the General Assembly on or after January 1, 2015, shall be responsible for all of the premium cost for health insurance coverage. Additionally, the member shall not receive any contributions from the state toward the retiree health insurance premium.

Likewise, any person who first serves as a member of the General Assembly on or after January 1, 2015, shall not be provided with life insurance benefits or disability income benefits based on service as a member of the General Assembly. A member of the General Assembly may elect to purchase certain life insurance policies and disability insurance coverage without any contribution from the state.

Any person who first serves as a member of the General Assembly on or after January 1, 2015, shall not be eligible for retirement benefits based on service as a member of the General Assembly.

This act is similar to SB 479 (2012).
