HCS/HB 1690 - Currently, persons or entities selling or distributing tobacco products are required to take certain actions in regard to selling such products. This act extends these requirements to persons or entities selling or distributing alternative nicotine products or vapor products. Further, any such person or entity selling tobacco products are required to deny the sale of tobacco products to persons under 18 years of age. This act extends this requirement to persons or entities selling or distributing alternative nicotine products or vapor products, and such products shall not be taxed or otherwise regulated as tobacco products. Currently, no person shall sell cigarettes or tobacco products unless they have a retail sales tax license. This act requires that sellers of alternative nicotine products or vapor products also have a license. The Department of Revenue is then required to provide a list of every establishment that sells such products to the Division of Liquor Control. The Division of Liquor Control shall have authority to inspect all stores for compliance. This act also modifies provisions relating to Division of Liquor Control inspections.
This act is substantially similar to SS/SCS/SB 841 (2014). This act is similar to HB 1345 (2014).
